2 killed in Gaibandha mob lynching

Two men were killed in a mob lynching incident in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha districtearly Friday after locals suspected them of attempting to snatch a motorcycle.

The incident took place around dawn at Maderhat Bridge area under Idilpur union of the upazila.

Confirming the matter around 11:30 AM, Sadullapur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Alim said the two unidentified men were assaulted by locals during an alleged robbery attempt and died on the spot.

Police later recovered the bodies from the scene and took them to the police station. A motorcycle was also seized from the area and efforts are underway to identify its owner.

Police said that they are working to establish who they were and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
