Amar Ekushey Book Fair inaugurated in Rajshahi

The two-day long Amar Ekushey Book Fair was inaugurated in Rajshahi district on Friday, marking a tribute to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement.

Organised by Rajshahi Writers Collective, the fair began at 10:00 AM at Batar Mor with the singing of the national anthem and the hoisting of the national flag.

The organisers said that the fair aims to honour the language martyrs by bringing together writers, poets and readers in a shared celebration of literature.

“Our objective is to create a platform for the craftsmen of this language on such a significant day. Over the two days, we want to celebrate through books, poetry and informal literary discussions,” one organiser said.

The fair features books by local writers and publishers from Rajshahi, alongside publications from authors and publishing houses across the country. A collection of rare and hard-to-find books has also been put on display.

The book fair will remain open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on both days.

Organisers of the Rajshahi Writers Collective and prominent poets and literary figures from the region were present during the inauguration ceremony.
