Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate the Amar Ekushey Book Fair and confer the esteemed Ekushey Padak on 26 February.

The Ekushey Padak ceremony will take place in the morning, followed by the official opening of the book fair in the afternoon.

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury provided the details on Saturday (21 February).

According to the Minister, the book fair will be formally opened in the afternoon at the Bangla Academy premises.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend as the chief guest to officially declare the fair open.

Earlier that day, the Prime Minister will award the Ekushey Padak to individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions in various fields across the country.

Organisers have confirmed that all preparations for both high-profile events have been completed.

In a notable initiative this year, the government has fully waived stall fees for all participating publishing houses, a move widely welcomed by the publishing community as a positive step for the industry.
