Police have recovered the body of a domestic child worker from officers’ quarters of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters in the capital’s Pilkhana.

The deceased was identified as Bibi Halima, 11, a resident of Kamrangirchar Bhandariar Mor.

According to sources, Halima had been working for the past six months at the residence of a public relations officer at BGB headquarters, Shariful Islam, where he lived with his wife, Dr Tunazona Binte Mahbub.

On Monday afternoon, police were informed that the child was found hanging inside a bathroom of the officer's residence.

Being informed, police went to the spot and found the body as they were informed, said New Market Police Station inspector (investigation) Anwar Hossain Khan.

He also added that the body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for further proceedings.

Meanwhile, the BGB official told several media outlets that he was wired by his runner (foot soldier) that Halima couldn't be found anywhere in the house.

"Being informed, I rushed to my house to find the bathroom locked from inside. After several failed attempts to break open the door, I informed police," said  Shariful Islam.

However, comments from the victim's family regarding the incident couldn't be found till filling the report.
