A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to singer Moinul Ahsan Nobel in a case filed over alleged embezzlement through deception.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed granted him bail on condition of settlement after he was produced before the court. His lawyer moved a petition seeking bail, which the court allowed.
Earlier on February 2, the same court had issued arrest warrants against Nobel and four others in the case. He was arrested on February 23 from the Bottola area of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.
The case was filed on August 13 last year by a woman named Anannya Shabnam Roz. The court had directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter.
According to the case statement, Nobel allegedly developed a romantic relationship with the plaintiff and, between August 25, 2023, and June 2025, took around Tk 13.18 lakh from her on the promise of marriage. The other accused allegedly assisted him in the act.
PBI sub-inspector (SI) Nuruzzaman submitted a report to the court on January 7 this year, confirming the allegations.
The other accused in the case are Nobel’s mother Najma Hossain, wife Israt Jahan Priya, assistant Munem Shah Soumik and acquaintance Masud Rana.
Further proceedings in the case are awaited.
