NATORE, Feb 24: Al-haj Md. Abdul Aziz, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Natore-4 (Boraigrame-Gurudaspur) has pledged to establish a narcotic-free society. He stated that people from all walks of life must remain vigilant against drugs and gambling to achieve this goal.

The MP made these remarks on Monday during the monthly law and order meeting held at the Boraigrame Upazila Parishad auditorium. The meeting was presided over by Laila Zannatul Ferdous, UNO of Boraigrame Upazila.

The MP emphasised the need to compile lists of both drug buyers and sellers. He urged Union Parishad chairmen and political leaders to take necessary steps so that no one involved in these destructive activities can escape accountability. He warned that drug addiction often leads individuals to crime, which severely disrupts law and order and hinders the country's prosperity.

Abdul Aziz also expressed his desire to work for the welfare of the people and the nation, aiming to bring about positive change. He stressed the equal rights of all citizens, regardless of religion, stating, "Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Muslims all are human. They have equal rights to live in this country." He called upon all government officers and employees to cooperate with him sincerely to achieve these goals.

Among others who spoke at the meeting were Zubair Zahangir, Assistant Commissioner (Land); Md. Abdus Salam, OC of Boraigrame Police Station; Principal S.M. Lutfor Rahaman, a member of the District BNP unit; Principal Md. Moazzem Hossain; UP Chairmen Ali Akbar and Momin Uddin; heroic freedom fighter Sarder Boyet Reza; Babu Dherendranath Saha, president of the Hindu Boddho Christian Oikya Parishad; and Al-haj Saifur Rahaman, president of Boraigrame Smart Press Club.
