2 Indian nationals, One Bangladeshi held with Yaba pills at Kurigram Border

Police arrested two Indian nationals and a Bangladeshi youth with Yaba pills from the border area in Kurigram’s Fulbari upazila on Friday evening.

The arrested were identified as Akhirul Khandakar, 22, of Natbari area under Dinhata police station; Faruk Mia, 22, son of Jamir Ali of Kisamat Karla area under Sahebganj police station, both from Cooch Behar district of India, and Aynal Haque, 26, a resident of Khalishakothal border village under Naodanga union in the upazila.

According to police, the trio was apprehended on charges of illegal border crossing around 7 PM. During a body search, Yaba pills were recovered from the Bangladeshi suspect.

Fulbari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmud Hasan Naeem confirmed the arrest and said that the Indian nationals will be handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for repatriation, while a case under the Narcotics Control Act is being prepared against the Bangladeshi youth.

Lalmonirhat BGB-15 Battalion commanding officer Lt Col Mehedi Imam said the Border Security Force (BSF) of India has been informed about the arrest and the two Indian nationals are expected to be handed over to BSF personnel by night.
