A Dhaka court on Sunday imposed travel bans on former Dhaka-4 lawmaker Sanjida Khanam and former Education and ICT Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan over corruption allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the orders following separate petitions filed by Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) Assistant Director Ismail Hossain.
According to the petitions, investigators are probing allegations that Sanjida Khanam amassed assets beyond known sources of income and might flee abroad.
In a separate filing, the ACC alleged that Nazrul Islam Khan was involved in irregular appointments at an NGO, embezzlement of large sums, money laundering, bribery-related transfers and other corrupt practices leading to illicit wealth.
Authorities argued that both individuals could leave the country, making travel restrictions necessary for a fair investigation.
