Teenager killed in Jhenaidah road crash

A teenager was killed and another injured in a road crash in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hussain, 14, son of Shahin Rahman, a resident of Koyergachi village in the upazila. He was a student in the Hefz department at a madrasa in Jashore.

According to locals, the incident occurred in Khadikhali Nrisinghapur area on the Jhenaidah-Jashore highway under Maharajpur union when Hussain was cycling to deliver breakfast to his father in a nearby brick klin.

At that time, a truck heading from Kaliganj to Jhenaidah hit his bicycle from behind, crushed him under the wheels and causing Hussain to die on the spot. Another boy, Prant, 12, who was riding on the bicycle with Hussain, fell to 
the side of the road and sustained injuries. He was given first aid locally.

Confirming the incident, Barobazar Highway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Kabir said the victim's uncle filed a complaint regarding the incident.

A case has been registered and forwarded to Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station for further legal procedures, added the OC.
