Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam on Monday said the successes and capabilities of the postal department must be brought before the public.
He said the postal department would play a key role in delivering the services of the people-friendly government to citizens' doorsteps, and activities would be advanced on a priority basis to achieve this goal.
The remarks were made at an introductory and exchange meeting with officials of the Department of Posts at the Dak Bhaban conference room in Dhaka's Agargaon.
Fakir Mahbub Anam said the postal department is no longer limited to the exchange of letters; it has evolved into a modern and multifaceted service network. By successfully delivering postal ballots, the department has demonstrated its efficiency, sense of responsibility and capability.
He added that the countrywide network of post offices and its large workforce could be utilized more effectively to deliver modern and reliable services to grassroots levels. For this, he stressed the need for timely reforms, modernization and technology-driven initiatives.
Speaking as special guest, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdun Naser Khan said the Bangladesh Post Office has been successful in providing fast and reliable services even in remote areas of the country.
