An iftar mahfil programme has been hosted by Sunamganj district's Dharmapasha Press Club on Tuesday.
Marking the holy month of Ramadan, the iftar mahfil was hosted at its temporary office in the upazila’s Purba Bazar area.
The event has brought together several key governments officials, local community leaders and journalists and provided an opportunity for interaction and goodwill among them.
During the event, speakers said the role of journalists in nation-building is undeniable, adding that they have worked with journalists in the past and intends to continue cooperation in the future.
The speakers urged all to embrace the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan to build an ideal life. They also condemned killings and oppression against Muslims across the world and called for unity among the Muslim Ummah.
Prior to iftar, special prayers were offered seeking peace,
prosperity and the overall welfare of the country, the nation and the
Muslim Ummah.
Among the invited guests were Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md. SM Fazle Rabbi Rajeeb, Dharmapasha Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Shahid Ullah, BNP upazila convening committee joint convener SM Rahmat, committee member Mojibur Rahman Majumdar, Jubo Dal upazila convener Shawkat Ali Bepari, and Swechasebak Dal convener Liakat Ali Mondol.
Press Club President Selim Ahmed, Vice President Arif Khan, General Secretary Shakin Shah, Treasurer Md. Akmal Hossain Chowdhury Biplob, Office Secretary Sayeed Qutub, Publicity Secretary Saiful Islam, and executive members Saif Ullah and Imam Hossain were also present alongside others.
