Mahfuzur takes solo lead

FIDE Master (FM) Syed Mahfuzur Rahman took solo lead in the points table with maximum five point after the fifth round of Manha's Castle 28th International Chess tournament held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room on Friday.

FM Md. Sharif Hossain and Awsaf Chowdhury shared the second position with 4.5 points. Ten players shared the third position with four points. They are FM Subrota Biswas, Anata Chowdhury, Candidate Master (CM) Md Jamal Uddin, CM Sohel Chowdhury, CM S M Sharon, Afnan Zarif Haque, Siam Chowdhury, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Rayan Rashid Mugdho and Din Mohammad.

In the day's fifth round matches, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman defeated CM Md Jamal Uddin, FM Sharif Hossain split point with Awsaf Chowdhury, Anata Choudhury split point with Afnan Zarif Haque, FM Subrota Biswas defeated CM Avik Sarker, Radmin Raha Rajya split point with FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid, Siam Chowdhury defeated WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo, CM Sohel Chowdhury defeated Md Moniruzzaman Masud, Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed split point with WFM Warsia Khusbu,  SM Sahron defeated Mukitul Islam.    "BSS
