A youth was killed after being his motorcycle being hit by a passenger bus in Mahadevpur of Naogaon on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred in front of Wahab Rice Mill on the east side of the Chowmashia intersection on the Naogaon-Rajshahi highway at around 9:30AM on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Tanmoy Hossain, 22, son of Shahadat Hossain Jonaki of Manikpur village under Akkelpur Police Station in Joypurhat district.
The deceased's brother-in-law Abdur Rashid said that Tanmoy Hossain got married against the family's wishes. Since he did not have any agreement with his family regarding this marriage, he left the area with his wife and lived in a rented house at Bagachara (Khoratoli) intersection in Mahadevpur upazila.
Tanmoy Hossain worked as an electrician. As usual, this morning, when he was going to work on his motorcycle, a BR Paribahan passenger bus coming from Naogaon hit the motorcycle and then he fell onto the ground and died on the spot.
Shahidul Islam, officer in-charge (OC) of Mahadevpur Police Station, said, "The body was recovered from the scene after receiving information and it will be handed over to the family after completing the legal process.
''Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident."
