Motorcyclist killed in Meherpur head-on collision

A man was killed and three members of his family, including a child and an infant, were injured after two motorcycles collided head-on at Fatepur village in Meherpur Sadar upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannaf, 55, son of Asad Ali, a resident of Kamdebpur village in the same upazila.

According to locals, the incident took place around 11:00 AM near a brick kiln in Fatepur village. Mannaf was travelling by motorcycle to bring his daughter and granddaughters from Sholmari when his motorcycle reportedly collided with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction at high speed.

Mannaf died on the spot due to the impact, while three passengers on his motorcycle sustained serious injuries.

The injured were identified as Taslima Khatun, 30, daughter of the deceased, her three-year-old daughter Khadija Khatun and three-month-old infant Chandni Khatun.

Later, locals rushed the injured to Meherpur General Hospital for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Meherpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said that the body has been sent to Meherpur General Hospital morgue for further procedures.

Legal action is underway in connection with the incident, added the OC.
