A mobile court of Rajbari’s Goalanda upazila has fined a local trader over storing a large amount of fuel illegally.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and magistrate Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan-led mobile court has conducted the drive and gave the penalty on Friday morning.

A press release from the upazila administration confirmed the matter in the same morning.

According to the notification, being tipped-off, the administration came to know that the alleged businessman was storing petrol, diesel and octane illegally on planning to sell these to farmers at an excessive price subsequently.

However, immediately after receiving the information, a team of upazila officials and law enforcers conducted a drive at the business establishment "Nazmul Store" in Hamid Mridhar Hat area of the upazila and seized about 1,800 liters fuel from their possession.

The mobile court fined Tk 8,000 for violating the terms of the license and storing these fuels in a risky manner.

Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan said that the businessman was fined for illegally storing oil and a bond was signed by the businessman on the condition that the stored oil be sold to general buyers at the fixed government price.

Such operation will continue regularly, added the upazila official.
