Transformer explosion triggers fire at N’ganj

A transformer was completely burnt in a fire that broke out at the ‘Palli Bidyut’ substation in Madanganj, Bandar of  Narayanganj district following an explosion, disrupting the power supply in the area temporarily.

However, the fire service confirmed that power supply has now been restored using alternative lines. 

On Friday night, an electrical fault caused a blast and fire in the transformer. 

Senior Station Officer of the Port Fire Service, Sanjay Khan, stated that two units of the fire service quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control in just an hour. It is initially believed that the fire caused damage of Tk 10 lakh. 

No casualties were reported. 

A similar incident had also occurred a month ago. Currently, power supply has been normalized in the area through alternative connections. And the repair work of the damaged line is underway.
