Chittagong Customs House has announced the auction of 378 containers of goods to ease congestion at the Chittagong Port.
The information was released on Sunday in a press statement by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

According to the statement, the auctions aim to reduce existing container congestion, mitigate security risks, ensure the safety of goods, prevent wastage of state resources, and enhance overall port efficiency. Chittagong Customs House has been conducting sales of unclaimed and auctionable goods as part of this initiative.

Under this program, a total of 378 containers will be offered through e-auctions in March 2026. In accordance with NBR's Special Order No. 82/2025/Customs, a total of 1,880 containers will be sold in 49 lots under E-Auction-2/2026. These goods include various chemicals, machinery, plastic scrap, art paper, bitumen, fabrics, household items, vehicle parts, and other commodities. No reserve prices have been set for these lots.

Separately, under NBR's Permanent Order No. 91/Customs/2025/123, a total of 198 containers will be sold in 74 lots under E-Auction-3/2026. These include capital machinery, passenger elevators, metal scrap, craft liner paper, and other items.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the entire auction will be conducted digitally. Interested bidders are allowed to inspect the goods in person throughout March and can also place bids online. Bidders can register and submit bids via the official Bangladesh Customs E-Auction portal at http://auction.nbr.gov.bd/auction/301. In addition to online bidding, bidders must submit a pay order as a deposit along with the required documents in the designated bid box.
