In a bold late-night heist, thieves struck the home of Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir in Amlapara, Bagerhat town, exploiting heavy rainfall and a temporary power outage to carry out the theft.

According to family sources, the criminals cut and stole nearly two coils of copper wire from the main electricity line leading to the meter, despite the presence of CCTV cameras around the three-storey residence. The stolen cables are valued at approximately Tk 60,000.

Authorities have launched an intensive investigation, deploying multiple police teams to track down the perpetrators. A local scrap metal shopkeeper has been detained for questioning, with police suspecting the theft may be linked to a wider criminal network.

Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Md Hasan Chowdhury described the incident as "very unfortunate" and assured that those responsible will be brought to justice swiftly.

The audacity of the crime has raised serious concerns about security, highlighting that even the residence of the nation's top police officer is vulnerable to such daring attacks.
