Thunderstorms rage across city

Thunder has rolled over Dhaka as lightning flashed across the sky, and rain pelted streets as nor'wester winds whipped through the capital.

Dhaka and surrounding areas experienced rain on Wednesday evening, as gusty winds from the north and northwest created conditions for nor'wester storms, meteorologists said.

Shahnaz Sultana, a senior weather official, told bdnews24.com: "From Wednesday through Sunday, scattered rainfall is expected across the country.

"Winds from the north and northwest… brought isolated showers, stormy winds, thunderstorms or hail in different areas."

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast that some parts of Sylhet Division, as well as selected areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, could experience temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms on Wednesday.

Isolated hail is also possible in some areas.

Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.�"bdnews24
