Dhaka court orders reopening of Moghbazar shop

A Dhaka court has expressed concern over police inaction in the forced closure of a Punjabi clothing shop in the capital's Moghbazar area, ordering it to reopen within 24 hours and summoning the officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate issued the suo motu order on Wednesday after a media report showed a group of individuals shutting down the "Nabin Fashion" outlet in the presence of police, who reportedly remained passive despite disorderly conduct.

The court observed that such inaction could create public fear and undermine confidence in law enforcement professionalism. It asked the OC to appear within three days with a written explanation as to why the police conduct should not be deemed unlawful and unprofessional.
