At least five members of a family, including a child, were killed after being run over by train at Kalihati upazila in Tangail district on Friday.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM at Dhalatengor area of the upazila.

Identifying the victims could not be made immediately.

According to Tangail Railway Station Police Outpost sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman, a Dhaka-bound passenger bus ran out of fuel near the site, prompting several passengers to disembark. The victims reportedly sat on the railway tracks alongside the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway.

At that moment, the Sirajganj Express train struck the group, killing one child, two women and two men instantly.

Police believe all the victims were from same family.
