NARAIL, Mar 29: The body of Tasmiya, 9, a child who went missing during bathing in the Madhumati River in Lohagara Upazila of Narail has been recovered.
Two days after she went missing, her body was recovered from the banks of the Madhumati River in the Degree Char area of Itna Union in the upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased, Tasmiya, was the daughter of Jinnah from Shahbazpur Village in the Satmile Bazar area of Jashore. She had come to visit her aunt Reshma's father's house in Mangalhata Village, Mallikpur Union, Lohagara, during the Eid holiday.
Sohaguzzaman, Station Officer of Lohagara Fire Service, said they rushed to the spot after receiving the news and began rescue operations. However, due to ambiguity over the exact location where she went missing, a diver team from Khulna could not be brought in. Eventually, two days after she disappeared, her body surfaced on the riverbank on Saturday morning.
Enayet, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Bordia Naval Police outpost, confirmed the recovery of the body and said, "We received the news and recovered the body from the scene. After legal procedures, the body was handed over to the family. Further legal action regarding the incident is underway."
