Local residents have taken up the construction of a road on their own initiative to alleviate the long-standing suffering in Tarakandia Purbapara Mohalla at Kendua Upazila of Netrakona.

Hundreds of families, who have been suffering due to the lack of a single road for decades, have finally come forward to solve the problem by their own.

They divided the work in groups.

They have built about 200 meters of dirt road, which is the only way to travel for about 300 families. Since this road has not been there for so long, it was a major problem for daily mobility,  especially during the rainy season.

Locals said that some have contributed money, some have contributed bamboo, and some have brought soil from their own land to build this road.

They also said that they were suffering for a long time. Since there is no government initiative, they were forced to start working on their own.

However, the residents claim that government cooperation is essential to make this temporary solution permanent. They believe that the construction of a durable paved road will completely alleviate the long-standing suffering of the people of this region.
