The government has appointed new principals to five leading medical colleges in the country, including Dhaka Medical College (DMCH).
The information was disclosed in a notification issued on Monday by the Health Education and Family Welfare Division of the Ministry of Health, signed by Deputy Secretary Dur-Re-Shahwaz of the Personnel-1 branch. The order also includes the appointment of a vice-principal at one institution.
According to the notification, Prof Dr Md Mazharul Shaheen, currently principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College, has been appointed acting principal of Dhaka Medical College. Prof Dr Mohammad Monir-uz-Zaman, previously serving as an officer on special duty (OSD) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has been made acting principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College.
Prof Dr Md Ainul Islam Khan, also an OSD at the DGHS, has been appointed principal of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College.
In addition, Prof Dr Md Saiful Islam of the ENT department has been appointed principal of Noakhali Medical College, while Associate Professor Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain of the surgery department has been made principal of Mugda Medical College.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Rehan Uddin Khan of the anaesthesiology department has been appointed vice-principal of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College.
The notification stated that the appointments have been made in the public interest and will come into effect immediately.
