Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi has expressed dissatisfaction with the statement issued by the Bangladesh government regarding the US-Israeli conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking at a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday, the ambassador said Tehran expected Bangladesh to condemn what it described as aggressive forces acting against Iran.

He noted that the government’s statement was not clear enough and expressed that the lack of condemnation was disappointing for Iran.

He emphasized that, as a Muslim-majority country, Bangladesh could have voiced its opposition to these actions, similar to countries like Russia and China, which have publicly condemned the aggression despite not being Muslim nations.

When asked if Iran would formally communicate its dissatisfaction to Dhaka, Jahanabadi said no official letter would be sent.

However, he added that he intends to raise the issue directly if he meets with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The ambassador stressed that, as a member of both the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Bangladesh had the opportunity to take a stronger stance in support of Iran.
