Singer Dalia Nausheen dies

Ekushey Padak-winning Nazrul Sangeet exponent Dalia Nausheen has passed away. She was 71.

She breathed her last at 12:57pm Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka, family members confirmed.

"She had been suffering from cancer for a prolonged period and had been frequently moving between home and hospital for treatment," Nausheen's cousin, Nazrul Sangeet artiste Sadya Afreen Mallick, said. 

Her Namaz-e-Zanaja was held after Maghrib at Gulshan Society Mosque, followed by burial at Banani Graveyard.

A distinguished Nazrul Sangeet singer, Dalia Nausheen, was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2020 in recognition of her contribution to music.
