Youth jailed for harassing woman in B’baria

A mobile court has sentenced a youth to one year simple imprisonment for harassing a young woman at Akhaura Railway Junction in Brahmanbaria.

On Wednesday afternoon, Akhaura Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Kafil Uddin Mahmud handed down the sentence.

The convict Jonny Mia, 25, a resident of Gouripur village in Mushapur union of Raipur upazila of Narsingdi district, has been sent to the custody of the Railway Police.

Md Kafil Uddin said that the administration is working on a 'zero tolerance' policy 
to maintain the safety of women and social order. 

He also warned that no one will be spared if the safety of passengers at the station is disrupted.
