Sports festival for children with autism held in Rangpur

A sports festival for children with autism was held at Shaheed Abu Sayeed Stadium in Rangpur city under the 2025-2026 annual sports programme of the Directorate of Sports.

Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam formally inaugurated the sports festival by releasing balloons as the chief guest on Thursday morning. 

The District Sports Office organized the event in collaboration with the Rangpur District Sports Association.

After the inauguration, the chief guest said that sports are an important part of educational life and it is very necessary for building a healthy life. Regular sports keep the body and mind healthy and increase performance.

Addressing the students and children with autism, he said that sports create discipline and sense of responsibility among people. As a result, human qualities like patriotism, courage and brotherhood are developed.

"A healthy and conscious generation developed through sports will make an important contribution to building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh in the future," he said, and urged students to participate in sports regularly along with their studies.

With Rangpur District Sports Officer Mohammad Masud Rana in the chair, District Education Officer Md Enayet Hossain and District Disability Affairs Officer Masud Rana, and others, addressed the function as special guests.

In the afternoon, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winning children with autism of various competitions of the sports festival.     "BSS
