A Dhaka court has granted bail to singer Mainul Ahsan Noble in a case filed over alleged financial fraud.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Sunday, allowing bail on a Tk 5,000 bond until the charge framing hearing.
According to the defence, Noble’s bail had previously been cancelled on April 2, when he was sent to jail.
His lawyer, Imran Hossain, said a fresh bail petition was filed, and the court granted relief after a hearing held in the presence of the accused.
The case was filed by a woman, Anannya Shabnam Roze, on August 13 last year, accusing Noble of embezzling approximately Tk 1.318 million by promising marriage.
An investigation conducted by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) found prima facie evidence supporting the complaint.
Earlier, Noble was arrested from Siddhirganj in Narayanganj on February 23 following a court-issued warrant and was initially granted bail under certain conditions.
However, the prosecution later sought cancellation of his bail, alleging violation of those conditions and further misconduct, leading to his re-arrest on April 2.
Other accused in the case include Noble’s mother, wife, assistant and an associate, who are alleged to have assisted in the fraud.
