DU KJ hall union leaders pay courtesy call on new provost

Dhaka University’s (DU) Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Union leaders paid a courtesy call on newly appointed Provost Dr SM Arif Mahmud on Sunday.

During the meeting, Social Service Secretary Abdullah Al Maruf, Outdoor Games and Sports Secretary Md Arafat Hossain and member Tohidur Rahman Ikhlas were present. They congratulated the new provost and conveyed their wishes.

As a token of courtesy, the leaders presented him with a book titled ‘Spring Festival: Journey Home & Celebrations’.

Dr Arif Mahmud assured the delegation of his full support for the overall development and welfare of the residential hall.

A professor in the Department of Anthropology, Dr Mahmud previously served as a house tutor at Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall for a decade. He officially assumed charge on Sunday, succeeding former provost Dr M Shahin Khan.
