Measles suspected deaths rise by 5 in 24-hour

The country recorded five more suspected measles deaths among children in the last 24 hours, while 1,282 new suspected cases were reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In a statement issued Monday (April 6), the health authority said laboratory testing confirmed two measles-related deaths and 180 confirmed infections during the same period.

5,940 children have been admitted to hospitals nationwide with suspected measles since March 15.

Of these, tests have confirmed the virus in 1,099 patients. While 118 deaths are under investigation as possible measles fatalities, officials have confirmed 20 deaths directly caused by the disease.

Dhaka division remains the most affected region, with 3,652 suspected cases and 611 confirmed infections. In the past 24 hours, both confirmed measles deaths occurred in Dhaka division.
