Bangladesh's SAFF U-20 Championship-winning footballers were honoured with cash rewards of Taka 100,000 and sports card as a token of appreciation for retaining South Asian supremacy in junior level at the National Sports Council on Mnday following National and International Sports Day celebrations.

Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque handed over the cheques and cards, praising the boys for their composure and achievement on the regional stage. A former SAFF-winning footballer himself, his presence added symbolic significance to the programme.

This marked the third time the statevminister congratulated the team. He had earlier welcomed them with flowers at the airport and later attended the reception at Hatirjheel, where further financial commitment were made. Bangladesh Football Federation Vice-President Naser Shahriar Zahedi announced Tk 100,000 for each player and Tk 50,000 for officials, while the Dhaka North City Corporation administrator pledged Tk 50,000 for each footballer.

The minister also assured that the team would be presented to Prime Minister Tareq Rahman, signalling continued state support. He had previously visited the team's training camp to inspire the players ahead of the tournament.

Although the footballers will not immediately come under the sports allowance scheme, the sports cards will allow them to access certain facilities and benefits, supporting their development pathway.
