A housewife died after her scarf became entangled in a running generator while she was delivering food for her school-going child in Jhenaidah Kotchandpur upazila on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Shirina Akter, 31, wife of Ramzan Ali, a resident of Bonbibhag Para area in the main bus stand locality of Kotchandpur town.
According to locals, Shirina had gone out of her home carrying lunch for her son Habib, a fourth-grade student of Kotchandpur Model Primary School.
While returning after collecting food from a nearby house for another child, where bakery work was underway and an engine-run generator was operating, her scarf accidentally got caught in the machine, sustaining critical injuries.
Later, locals rescued her and rushed her to Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Kotchandpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident and said that the body has been handed over to the deceased’s family.
An unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident, added the OC.
