3 held while smuggling large consignment of drugs in Ctg

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested three individuals along with a huge consignment of drugs from Karnaphuli police station area in Chittagong city early Tuesday.

The arrested were identified as Md Ali Hossain alias Ali Hossen, 42, Md Azim, 40 and Md Rasel, 49.

Acting on a tip-off, CMP Detective West Division conducted a raid in front of a petrol pump in Patiya Crossing area under Karnaphuli Police Station at around 2:55 AM and signalled a passenger bus to stop, but the bus tried to flee at high speed.

Later, law enforcement officials chased the bus, captured it and arrested the driver, supervisor and helper.

During the drive, police recovered 8 kg of heroin and 14,000 pieces of Yaba pills while they were being transported.

Police also seized the bus used for drug transportation.

CMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Muhammad Faisal Ahmed confirmed the incident through a press briefing and said that legal action is underway.
