A Dhaka court on Friday placed dismissed Major Manjil Haider Chowdhury, a former official of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), on a four-day remand in a case linked to the killing of hawker Abdul Wadud during the July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after police produced him before the court and sought a seven-day remand for interrogation.

Police arrested Manjil on Thursday from a residence in Mohakhali DOHS in the capital.

According to case documents, Abdul Wadud was shot dead at Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station jurisdiction on July 19, 2024, during the July Uprising.

The case was filed by his brother-in-law, Abdur Rob, naming 130 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as accused.
