Police recovered a body of a woman from a paddy field in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Rasheda alias Ashura ,45, a resident of the Sotar Adarsha Gram area under Tulsiganga Union of the upazila.
According to police and locals, Ashura’s first husband died a few months ago. She later married a man named Babul.
On Friday night around 8:30PM, locals passing through the area noticed her body lying in a paddy field. Her head and the front part of her body were found partially buried in mud.
Police were immediately informed and they recovered the body from the spot.
Officer in-Charge (OC) Mokhlesur Rahman stated that an inquest has been completed and the body will be sent to Joypurhat General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
He also stated that the victim’s husband, Babul, fled the area after the incident.
Police are conducting operations to arrest him and are continuing their investigation to uncover the motive behind the murder, he added.
