Clashes broke out between rival groups over the inauguration of a local office of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Dhamrai of Dhaka on Friday, leaving at least 20 people injured.

The incident occurred at around 4 pm at Haji Kamrul Super Market in the Kalampur Bus Station area of the upazila, where a temporary office of the party's Dhaka District North and Dhamrai Upazila units was inaugurated.

According to local sources, tensions escalated shortly after the inauguration ceremony during speeches by party leaders, when a group of party members who were reportedly excluded from the current committee arrived at the venue and began protesting against the leadership. The situation subsequently turned violent following an altercation between the two groups.
