
The Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, visited the Bangladesh Krishi Bank stall at the initiative of the Department of Agricultural Extension, on the occasion of the inauguration of the "Agricultural Card Distribution Programme and Agricultural Fair 2026," held at Tangail Municipal Park, says a press release.
During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed in detail about the country's agricultural development, agricultural loan disbursement activities, and various innovative and supportive initiatives of Bangladesh Krishi Bank for marginal farmers.
At that time, the Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Sanchia Binte Ali, informed the Prime Minister that, as per his announcement, nearly 52 percent of the total waived agricultural loan up to Tk 10,000 under loan waiver programme have been implement through Bangladesh Krishi Bank.
She also informed that the bank finances 40 percent of the country's total agricultural loans and in 2025, Bangladesh Krishi Bank collected approximately USD 3.13 billion in foreign remittances, securing the second position among all banks in the country. She further informed that the amount is expected to increase to USD 4.00 billion in the current fiscal year.
She also said, "We are inspired and follow the concept of 'Bangladesh First' and will continue to move forward accordingly."
The Hon'ble Prime Minister expressed deep satisfaction upon being briefed about the activities of Bangladesh Krishi Bank during the visit and hoped that the bank would continue such initiatives for the welfare of farmers and agriculture, including remittance collection.
At the time, Deputy Managing Directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Md. Abdur Rahim and Md. Khaleduzzaman, the General Manager of Dhaka Division, along with other concerned officials were present.
