Man held over sexually assaulting minors in N’ganj

A man was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting two children at Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj district on Wednesday night.

The incident took place at Haji Momin Mia's house in Mizmizi Chowdhurypara area of ward no. 2 of Siddhirganj last Tuesday (April 14). 

The arrested is Harun Mia, 52, from Tarapalla area of Hajiganj upazila in Chandpur district.

Siddhirganj Police Station inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the arrest on Thursday.

The two victims are 9 and 8 years old siblings, living in the same house as the accused as tenants. 

According to the complaint, on April 14, Harun Mia called the two sisters to his room. First, he fed them and tempting them to play games on his mobile phone and then sexually assaulted them.

On Wednesday, an initiative was taken by the owner of the house, Haji Momin Mia to resolve the matter through a mediation meeting. 

At the meeting, Harun Mia was  beaten by the authorities and fined him Tk 20,000 in cash. 

Later, when the victim's family called the emergency service number 999, the police arrived and arrested the accused.

Inspector Md. Mizanur Rahman said, "The father of the victims has filed a case in this regard.’’

Legal action will be taken following the law, added the official.
