Drugs worth Tk24lakh seized in Kushtia border drives

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-47) seized drugs worth approximately Tk 2,410,200 during separate operations at Daulatpur border area in Kushtia district.

The drives were conducted at several strategic locations under the battalion’s jurisdiction as part of ongoing efforts to curb smuggling along the border, according to BGB sources.

At the Udayanagar BOP, 4,880 Yaba pills worth around Tk 14.6 lakh were seized from Atarpara Kheya Ghat area.

In another operation at Jamalpur BOP, personnel recovered 1.6 kg of hemp along with 34 bottles of a specialized cough syrup containing Triprolidine Hydrochloride and Codeine Phosphate from Shakuntala field area on Friday.

At Chilmari BOP, a separate drive at Shantipada area led to the seizure of 20 bottles of foreign liquor, 1,500 Dexamethasone tablets and 1,490 Cyproheptadine tablets, with an estimated value of about Tk 927,000.

All seized items were found abandoned, as the smugglers fled the scene upon sensing the presence of BGB personnel.

BGB confirmed that the confiscated goods will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for disposal.

The border force reiterated its commitment to continuing such operations to protect the border and prevent smuggling activities in the region.
