Police detained Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA) spokesperson Rashed Prodhan's personal assistant, Jony Nandi, following a scuffle during a protest in Dhaka's Mohammadpur on Friday.

The clash broke out when a group of BNP leaders and activists gathered outside Prodhan's residence to protest remarks he had recently made about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on a television talk show.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tejgaon Division Jewel Rana confirmed the matter to the media.

Locals said a group of agitated protesters had assembled outside the residence when Nandi allegedly struck one of them, triggering an altercation.
