A woman has been hacked while he was sleeping and succumbed to her injuries after a daylong fight for life at Jibonnagar upazila of Chuadanga.
Deceased Bobita Khatun, 27, a mother of two and a divorcee, died at approximately 10:30 PM on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Bobita had been living at her father’s house in Dumuria village of the Upazila.
According to local sources and police, the attack incident occurred between 3:00 AM and 4:30 AM on Saturday.
Bobita's neighbour entered her room while she was sleeping and attacked her with sharp weapons, leaving her critically injured. She was later rushed to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. As condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital and later referred to Rajshahi for advanced care where she succumbed to her injuries.
Jibannagar Police Station officer in-charge (OC), Solaiman Sheikh, stated that before her death, Bobita was able to mention a the name of a specific neighbor as her attacker.
The body is currently kept at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
