A Dhaka court has ordered the suspension of six credit cards held by former mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and his wife Afrin Taposh over allegations of suspicious financial transactions.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez passed the order on Monday following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

According to the court, debit functions of six credit cards issued by Madhumati Bank Limited in the names of the accused have been blocked.

The ACC alleges that the couple was involved in suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 79.59 crore and $913,000, with unclear sources of funds. The court imposed the restriction to prevent any transfer or misuse of money during the ongoing investigation.
