Man held with hemp in B’baria

Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 26 kilograms of hemp during a drive in Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila early Monday.

The arrested was identified as Md Abdul Hamid, 45, a resident of Kashinagar Paschim Para in the same upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at approximately 2:30 AM in Uthariapara area under Singarbil union.

During the drive, police recovered 26 kg of hemp from his possession and arrested him.

The incident was confirmed by a press release issued at around 6:00 PM on Monday.

The seized drugs were taken into custody following due legal procedures and a case has been filed against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act with Bijoynagar Police Station, added the release.
