2 cousins drown at Nandail pond

NANDAIL, MYMENSINGH, Apr 22: Two cousins drowned in a pond at Deul Dangra Village of Jahangirpur Union in Nandail Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were Saifa Akhter, the two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Sumon Mia, and Suraiya Akhter, the three-year-old daughter of Tuhin Mia, of the village. 

According to the local UP Member Milon Mia and the deceased's family sources, the two children were playing beside the pond near their house in the afternoon. 

At one point, they fell into the pond water without notice of their family. After not seeing them for a long time, the family members started searching. 

At one stage, they found their bodies floating in the pond water, rescued those with the help of locals and took to the Nandail Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared both dead.
