Govt to procure Boro, wheat from May 3 at unchanged prices

Despite a sharp rise in production costs and household living expenses compared to last year, the government has decided to keep procurement prices unchanged for the current Boro season and will begin purchasing paddy, rice, and wheat from farmers on May 3. The decision was announced on Wednesday after a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) chaired by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed."

Health Minister Sarder Sakhawat Hosssin Bakul, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, and State Minister for Food Abdul Bari and senior officials from the ministry were also present at the meeting.

Later, Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed briefed media. 

Under the government's procurement plan, the purchase prices will remain the same as last year. This year, Boro paddy will be bought at Tk 36 per kg while parboiled rice at Tk 49 per kg, non-parboiled rice at Tk 48 per kg and wheat at Tk 36 per kg.
