BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, Apr 23: The floating body of a businessman was recovered from the Boga Ferry Ghat area in Bauphal Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Earlier, the businessman named Md Zahir Munshi, 60, son of Motahar Munshi of Kanakdia Union in the upazila, went missing on his way home from Dhaka by bus on Tuesday to attend the funeral prayers of a deceased neighbour.

The bus stopped at the ghat at 10 pm and Zahir Munshi got off the bus and went missing while walking on the gangway of the ferry. After Fajr prayers early Thursday, the workers at the ferry ghat saw the floating body and informed Zahir Munshi's relatives.

Officer-in-Charge of Bauphal Police Station Sirajul Islam said, "It is believed that Zahir Munshi slipped from the ferry gangway and fell into the river and disappeared. The next decision will be taken after discussing with his family members."
