DU student’s documentary ‘Silent Verdict’ selected for Bulgaria's Golden Femi Film Festival

A short documentary titled Silent Verdict, directed by Dhaka University student Sakib Hossain, has been officially selected for officially selected for Golden Femi Film Festival 2026 in Bulgaria.

The film, produced by students of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) Department at Dhaka University, previously won the Best Documentary award at Creative Excellence Awards organised by TFP Film Club in February this year.

Silent Verdict highlights cases of rape and murder involving women and children in Bangladesh, including widely discussed incidents such as those involving Tonu and Asiya. 

Through its narrative, the documentary advocates for fair and effective justice for victims.

Speaking about the project, director Sakib Hossain said resistance is not limited to street protests. “Protest and resistance can also be expressed through cinema and the lens of a camera,” he noted.

The documentary was produced with contributions from fellow TFP students Sadman Kabir Sadab, Ishrat Tasnim and Shakhi Sikder, who served as producer and assistant producers on the project.
