KHULNA, Apr 28: Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Professor Dr Muhammad Masud, on Monday said that fire safety is an essential part of everyday awareness, responsibility and preparedness.

He emphasised that ensuring the safety of students, teachers, officers and employees in an educational institution is both a moral and institutional obligation.

He made the remarks as chief guest at a day-long fire safety training programme held at KUET and organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). IQAC Director Professor Dr ABM Awlad Hossain chaired the programme, while IQAC Deputy Director Professor Dr Md Rizvi Kaisar conducted the event.

"Many accidents can be prevented through prior awareness and proper preparation," he added, urging everyone to remain vigilant about fire hazards, follow safety regulations and become skilled in using fire-fighting equipment.

Calling upon the participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training in real life, the VC said a safe and accident-free campus can be built if everyone acts responsibly from their respective positions.

A total of 40 teachers from different departments of the university participated in the training programme.
