The newly elected members of the reserved women’s seats for the 13th National Parliament are set to take their oaths of office on Sunday (May 3).
The Parliament Secretariat confirmed the schedule in a notice issued on Saturday.
According to the secretariat, the oath-taking ceremony will be held at 9:00 PM at the oath room located on Level-1 of the East Block in the Parliament Building.
The Election Commission officially declared 49 candidates victorious for the reserved women’s seats on Wednesday, April 29. Following the declaration, a formal gazette notification naming the elected members was published on Thursday evening.
According to the gazette, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured the majority with 36 seats. The remaining seats are distributed among the 11-party electoral alliance, which includes Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP) with 12 seats, while one seat was won by an independent candidate.
Once the oath is administered on Sunday night, these members will officially assume their legislative duties.
